'Try Something New'
At St. Joseph's every penny of our Sports Funding is dedicated to ensuring that as any children as possible access sporting experiences. For most, this will mean taking part in competitions outside school; typically well over 60% of children in years 5 and 6 will represent the school in a competitive sporting event - s in any one year, something the staff are very proud to have facilitated.
All children in key stage two take part in a fully funded sporting experience, trying out something they may never have tried before. We hope to inspire some of them to return to that sport later in their lives. Parents might like to follow the link below to investigate other experiences for the whole family, following the Get Inspired theme which came out of the London Olympics: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/get-inspired
Annually, year 3 go to Guildford Sports Park and experience squash among other sports. For further information: http://www.surreysportspark.co.uk
Annually, year 4 go to Whitespider Climbing centre for two afternoons and learn to climb on their extensive indoor climbing wall. For further information: http://www.whitespiderclimbing.com
For year 6, we organise archery and a team challenge day at High Ashurst; the day is a team building activity in readiness for their final year at St Joseph's. Feedback from the staff, children and parents who attend is highly praising of the experience. For further information: http://www.surreyoutdoorlearning.uk/facilities/high-ashurst
