KS1 and Phonics Results
Phonics Assessments in Year One
At St Joseph's we are passionate about ensuring that children grasp their phonics from the very beginning of their time with us. Our approach is very structured and ensures that all children make rapid progress.
Since its introduction in 2014 we have been recognised by the Department for Education as being in the top 5% of schools nationally for achievement in phonics annually. In 2016, 100% of children passed the phonics test, placing us in the top 2% nationally. In 2019, the result was 98%, relfecting the work that we do to embed these early learning skills.
Year Two Assessments (Key Stage One)
Throughout year two, teachers assess the children's progress. The children work towards national expectations and at the end of the year teachers made a judgement as to each child's attainment. Below there is a summary of our results for this year. We are confident that the learning experience at key stage one places our children in a good position of readiness for KS2.
